He is amazing with kids of all ages, and adults alike. His staff is phenomenal. My kids actually LOVE going to the dentist, even if they\'re having work done. I went for an invisalign consultation with Dr. Alex Wakter. I had to leave my work early in order to be on time for my appointment and I waited 35 minutes in the waiting room. When I saw Dr Wakter, he asked me many questions regarding the reason why I want to enhance my current teeth, which I feel were pointless. I was surprised because I thought he would be the one telling me about the benefits of straightening my teeth, not the other way around. After answering to all his questions (I did a lot of research about invisalign), he examined my teeth by putting his fingers in my mouth, which I thought was a strange thing for a dentist to do, as they usually use tools. Then finally after his examination with his fingers (luckily he wore gloves) he gave me the estimated cost for the treatment plan, which was 700$ higher then another dentist’s estimate that I received a month earlier for Invisalign near the Herongate area. I also inquired about the 500$ rebate for the invisalign procedure that he promotes on his website and which was supposed to expire that same day, but it is still there (the expiry date is updated every day). He didn’t answer my questions about the rebate. I repeated my question to him, and he was very unclear in his response. He finally told me that he had already subtracted some of the rebates in the treatment estimate which he gave me. I didn’t see any evident reduction, and therefore I find the rebate advertisement difficult to believe. Because of his lack of professionalism, his carelessness and his dishonesty in regard to the fake promotion on his web site, and his lack of knowledgeable explanation (I actually got a more detailed explanation about the treatment plan from his receptionist then from him) I finally decided to go with the Dentist from Herongate mall. His services are very professional, more affordable ($700 less than Dr. Wakter’s estimate even including the 500$ rebate), and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the treatment plan to me, in detail. The experience I had up to now with my new dentist is remarkable! I already see positive results in my teeth. The reason I went for a consultation with Dr. Wakter it is because his office is close to my work, but now I prefer to drive 15 minutes longer and get superior quality work done on my teeth and overall better service. Recently, I also met a former colleague of mine who has been having the invisalign procedure done by Dr. Wakter for 6 months now, and he is still waiting for his 500$ rebate. I had an emergency and called the emergency hotline in my area to see who was able to accept patients. Dr. Pichler was the only one in my area. I called and she was not available and the secretary asked me to call back in 15 minutes. I called back and she still didn\'t know when the Dr would be available. She told me to come in half an hour later and hopefully the Dr would be back. When I arrived, she was in and it didn\'t take to long for me to be seen. She diagnosed what was wrong but could not provide immediate assistance in removing the cause of my troubles- an abscessed tooth. She gave me a prescription for penicillin (I had already been on antibiotics that didn\'t work). She charged me $58.00 for the emergency visit and xray which was very annoying since I didn\'t have a lot of money and it was supposed to be covered by RAMQ due to the urgency of the visit. I plan on calling to see about going back in today and hopefully I have a better situation with her and will definately update but for now I will give her an overall rating of about 80%. So basically, if you need a Dentist in an emergency then try her. She should be able to see you same day but if you rely on RAMQ to cover your mandatory expenses for an emergency then don\'t bother unless you have a minimum of $58.00 to spare. I always feel confident after our visits that he has done what needs to be done and told us everything we need to know. My daughter needs dental surgery and he has given us details as to what to expect, what can happen and everything he can tell us about it. Dr. Beauchamp has been my dentist since 1994 and has done all my work since and now my wife sees him and my six year old son Ty. He did my veneers on my upper front six teeth about 13 years ago and they are still in perfect condition. When I was working in the USA for five years I had several other dentists comment on the high quality of workmanship that was done. I asked why they would say it was such good work and they stated that, \"If you don\'t see an interface from the gum to the veneer\". Meaning that the shaping of the veneer and the colour of the veneer makes it look as natural as possible. To the untrained eye you can\'t tell they are veneers. I would recommend Dr. Beauchamp to anyone, he also has great interpersonal skills and bedside manner. Thanks for the good work Dr. Beauchamp!!! I was very disappointed in this dentist. He looked at my teeth and told me that he did not want to bother with one decayed tooth, and he'd rather pull it out and do a bridge. He never even mentioned things like possible "implant" (probably he does not know about that). At the end, I went to another dentist who perfectly handled that tooth, just did a root canal and that's all. Dr. Wakter seemed like he just trying to make more money of procedures, and even less he showed a care for patient's teeth. I would be afraid to go there , this dentist is just dangerous! I cringe when I think of a visit to the Dentist. I had a very painful toothache, needed to see a dentist and decided to try TLC. From the moment I called to get an appointment, the time I spent in the chair and to writing this review I honestly was very impressed and not intimidated at all. I had to get a lot of dental work done and Dr. Selk and his staff worked around my schedule as much as they could. They booked late appointments and even stayed at the office late on a Saturday. They made my time there very relaxing (as I was pretty nervous the 1st few times). He also set up a payment plan and was very decent on pricing. What I did not like was on the last visit both the dentist and the male hygienist lightly slapped my arm with the back of their hand which I found impolite. Also, the male hygienist polished only the front teeth but billed for a full polish which could have been an oversight but I called and left a message and no one called back to sort this out. The male hygienist said he would apply in-office desensitizer and then did not; the female hygienist was professional and friendly but her instruments were not sharp at one visit. I cannot comment on the dental work as I had no restorative work done. I liked the dental exam information and willingness to refer for a consultation to a specialist. Hi there, The first time I went to see Dr. Halpin was for an emergency extraction of 2 wisdom teeth. I did not have a dentist at the time therefore chose to continue seeing him to fix the rest of my teeth. I had an estimate done for 2 fillings on my mollers. When I went in to get it done he offered to do a crown. I explained that I only had $665 and that I could not go over that amount. So he decided we would do a large filling on my K9 tooth. He had to laser part of my gums off in order to get to the whole caivity, i asked if would put me over my budget and he said he would charge me later so we went ahead. And then he said he wanted to fill in the next tooth over and since I made it clear that I ONLY have $665 to spend I figured he would not go over that amount. In the end it cost me $976. It was absolutely disrespectful of him to go against me like that. I called the office shortly after I left and told her she would have to hold my check until the following week and all she had to say was that I shouldn\'t worry because my benefits would be giving me back most of the monay. That is not the point, I did NOT have that kind of money to pay upfront. The dentist, Dr. Leong was right on time for me, very down to earth, explained things in a way I could understand; made me feel very comfortable eventhough my mouth is a mess and I was embarassed to smile. The office staff that took care of me, the Hygienist and her assistant, as well as the receptionist, were all very professional, friendly and welcoming even though I came late to my appointment. My consultation with Dr. Fong went very well and his hygienist, Sara, took time to explain the treatment plan to me and how it will work. Dr. Fong is a very caring, sympathetic and knowledgeable doctor - I would recommend him to anyone! As all others here have said, she is very nice, friendly and understanding (of my dental anxiety) and does everything to make you comfortable, but I have seen 4 or 5 different dentists in the last few years because of chronic dental pain. Question I have been seeing this dentist since Aug \'05. Have spent $6141. Have come to the end of my rope with errors. The top bridge did not fit right, caused pressure on the roof of my mouth. He adjusted it several times to no avail. Finally agreed to remake it. I heard him tell his assistant to order it with thin bands instead of the huge amount of silver which was pressing on the roof of my mouth. When the new bridge came in larger than the one before, I questioned him. He said that we had only discussed the POSSIBILITY of the small bands across the roof of my mouth. It\'s actually marginally better feeling than the one before, but, I still can\'t leave it in for prolonged periods (2-3 hours) without discomfort. The tooth behind the \'canine\' on the upper left in the bridge is another pointy tooth, not the multisurface grinding kind of tooth like on the other side of my mouth. On the lower right, I have one less tooth than on the left. The lower right portion of the bridge dips down way low and the caps above it are too long so it all comes together when I chew, but, it doesn\'t look right. Lower right, 4 from the middle, had a root canal. The filing is grey instead of the color of the cap. My son had his cleaning done with the hygienist whos personality was up beat and Very friendly. When the dentist, Dr. Aghasi, came in to look at the xrays he noticed a cavity that needed to be fixed. I was extremely nervous at how my son would react as he has Asbergers syndrome,which affects his sensory perception. Dr. Aghasi took the time to let me speak with him about my concerns with the needle and he assured me my son was in good hands. I sat patiently while my son had his first filling done, expecting screaming and crying, I was shocked to see my son walking down the hall with a smile on his face and a dental goody bag in hand for his co-operation. Was referred by our dentist to her and in 2 min. she was able to condemn my older son's 'bad brushing' and make him feel bad and look at my 3 yr olds teeth very QUICKLY and come up with 15 bad teeth incl. pulpectomies and 6 crowns!! All this while being very short and unfriendly. Her associates were no better. When I asked if the girl who took me in the room was the dentist she rudely said no. No smiles, nothing. AND I got a second opinion and the other Nanaimo pediactric dentist was AMAZING, spent a good 15 min., all people there were friendly and actually introduced themselves, and only 8 bad teeth and no pulpectomies and only 2 crowns. She even reconfirmed with xrays. SO, you decide for yourself, but I would recommend a 2nd opinion to anything she advises and if you don't mind rudeness and overcharging and unnecessary work!!...by all means indulge yourself --but perhaps they were all having a bad day. Well first I am very surprised to see all of the negative comments posted here. I am currently a welfare recipient and went in with very minimal basic coverage, her office covered the portion of my care that was not covered by my plan. I went in for a broken tooth that was severely decayed from the inside out. It broke in January and didnt know I had coverage so I didnt go in to get it fixed until Aug. She suggested extraction and I really didnt want to loose the tooth. She started a root canal to save the tooth which eneded up breaking. In the end I had an extraction and she fitted me for a temp flipper tooth which I am sure she gave to me at cost. She filled my teeth in a no nonsense manner and now I currently dont need any dental work at all. The experience was traumatic but not because of Dr. O'Malley, who definitely eased me through the process. Her tone was very soothing and it helped me relax. A pediatric dentist that does not realize that working with children requires tact. It started by his staff demonstrating a lack of emphaty and understanding. As for Dr. Magne, he told me that my daugther had 8 cavities with her present on his chair. A child that was already upset, just lost it right then and there. Why not pulling me aside out of her hears reach and deliver the news? To make matters worse, she was assessed by her regular dentist (a wonderful man) which said that she had only ONE cavity three weeks prior. With the 8 cavities and the "gum desiese" that he saw on my daugther, the price tag came to $900 + compared to the $150.00 we were quoted...needless to say I ran, but not before they charged me $80.00 for only 10 minutes of service and agravation. After going back to our family dentist he STOOD BY his original prognosis. We found someone in Nanaimo to do the job (she needed sedation). Run with your children. I am surprised by the poor comments on Dr. Rinehart. I have been a patient for many years and hope he never retires. I suffered terrible pain for years before being treated by him. I now see him once a year on followup and adjustment of my bite plate. Yes, he is sometimes firm but only when I have not been doing what he recommends. I know he sees MANY patients for TMJ from all around the province and I have listened to many wonderful stories being told in the waiting room from people who have had huge changes in their quality of life because of what he does. It must be challenging to deal with so many long time pain sufferers. I would not want to have to do it all day long. I suspect the unhappy patients have not listened to his recommendations and expect miracles. This probably would have been a good thing to tell me before I decided to get braces. I wear my retainer every day and have since I got it (approx. 3 years), everytime I go to him to get my retained checked he TELLS me that I am not wearing my retainer. When I explain to him that I am every night his reply is "no you aren't". Also, my retainer broke once and he didn't fix it properly. I could see where the wire was supposed to go and where he actually put it and it was nowhere near the correct spot. I highly recommend that if you are thinking of using his services, DON'T! I saw Dr Cohen in January for a back molar extraction of a root canal tooth which had an abscess. Unfortunately the abscess had moved into the one next to it, also which was a root canal, and I had to have it also removed 2 weeks ago. I have to say that Dr Cohen and his staff were absolutely wonderful! The last surgery was pretty difficult, but went very well. Although I was fairly sore for a week I have to say that he did a wonderful job. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to see him. Wonderful doctor who genuinely cares. She is the most compassionate dentist I've ever met. She is incredibly smart and does not recommend unecessary procedures. In fact there have been many times where she has treated my teeth by successfully using the "lessor of two evils". The WADE brothers are terrible. He tried to pull my son's 2 baby teeth. He was 4 and cried. Richard told him he was a big baby and needed to grow up. Went to see Dr. Gertenstein one day as I wasn't able to get into my own dentist. I was shocked to find the building he works in extremely dirty, windows never washed, his equipment & instruments are very old & the office was filled with clutter & very dis organized. Reception was "babysitting" 2 small children which was unprofessional. The dentist was scolding a new staff member right next to me, as if I wasn't there. He said that he couldn't see anything wrong with the tooth that was aching, then said he "Thinks" a filling fell out and he needed to fix it. I said I would be back..NOT! Turns out my gums were irriated and there is nothing wrong with that tooth! I just recently called the office to get the dentist name & the reception was extremly rude when I said what the dentist name was, she wanted to know who was calling & for what. After many years with my previous dentist, and with clean record and healthy mouth, I became Dr. MacArthur's patient. Over the next 2 years I saw her personally only twice and only after me insisting (her staff is doing all the work). Then, my gums got infection, she recommended (after me insisting) a "specialist" who dismissed me with diagnosis that everything was normal and that I should just keep using a mouthwash. On my next cleaning appointment I was due for the x-ray update and, sure enough, it showed one of my roots being infected too. Dr. MacArthur came in stating that "we could not do much about it" and recommended "extraction". After saying thank you, I visited another dentist who did the root cleaning, and six months latter everything was back to the normal healthy state... and still is. All I can really say is that the time may have come for Dr. MacArthur to retire and leave the dental care business to people who actually do care and who are more knowledgeable.
